I was pleased to join the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Naumann Academy of Politics as a guest speaker for its programme, Navigating the New World Order: Liberal Grand Strategy in the Age of Geopolitics on 16 September 2026.
My lecture, “Is Global Trade Dead? The Geoeconomics of 2026+,” explored how geopolitical competition is reshaping trade and the choices facing countries as they navigate an increasingly uncertain global economy. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss what these shifts mean for Africa’s economic relationships and room for strategic choice.
