Nicodemus Minde, PhD
Nicodemus Minde, PhD, is an International Relations scholar, policy analyst, and lecturer specializing in African international relations, democratization, foreign policy, regional security governance, and the politics of East Africa. His research examines how African states and political actors navigate questions of sovereignty, democracy, security, regional integration, and external influence in a changing global order.
He earned his BA, MA, and PhD in International Relations from the United States International University–Africa in Nairobi. His doctoral research focused on one-party dominance and the challenges of democratizing the Tanganyika–Zanzibar Union, with particular attention to political parties, constitutional politics, nationalism, and state formation in Tanzania.
Dr. Minde has worked as a researcher at the Institute for Security Studies in Nairobi, where he contributed to the East Africa Peace and Security Governance project. His policy research has engaged governments, diplomats, regional organizations, civil society actors, and international partners on issues relating to peace and security, democratic governance, regional integration, and political transitions in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.
